Two Women, One Queen

Lauri Verne - Ok then Doc, what's the damage

Asks Lauri as she sits back in the black leather seat of the SCCW Doctor's office. With ice clutched to her face she stares at him, awaiting his report of any injuries she may have sustained from the backstage fight with Scarlett less than an hour ago. In a brawl that had seen a vending machine break, a mirror smash, and a hell of a lot of strikes traded, Lauri had taken a beating from the champion.

Doctor - Well, to be honest with you Miss Verne I couldn't find much wrong... a bit of bruising that doesn't show a couple of scratches, but no breaks.

He says, and Lauri shakes her head and sighs loudly before leaning forward on the desk and pushing the ice from her face. She stares at the doctor.

Lauri Verne - Are you sure you're qualified?

Doctor - Yes...

Lauri Verne - I beg to differ. I'm telling you, my face KILLS, now... what are you going to do about it?

Raising an eyebrow, Lauri pushes the ice back to her face and continues to stare daggers into the doctor. Whilst her face isn't hurting as greatly as she makes out, Scarlett did manage to leave her reeling and with a split lip, and Lauri is intent on getting some form of sympathy for herself and hatred for Scarlett out of it. A prescription for powerful painkillers could only serve to help her cause.

Doctor - Well, I can just suggest you put ice on any bruises...

Lauri Verne - Oh really? Why thanks Doc, I hadn't thought of that one!

Responds Lauri as she sarcastically waves her ice pack around and throws a pissed-off smirk at the medical professional. He shrugs his shoulders and Lauri screams out before kicking back on her chair and dropping the wet ice pack on top of the doctor's notes.

Lauri Verne - Thanks a-fucking-lot!

She shakes her head and storm from the room, grasping her clutch bag and leather coat on the way out. As she slams the door to the office a few of the other patients look round, and Lauri spreads her arms out and stares wide-eyed at them.

Lauri Verne - WHAT!?

The patients all return their gazes to the various magazines and newspapers; a few coughing their disapprovals of Miss Verne's actions. Snorting her disgust of their existences, Lauri reaches into her pocket and pulls out a small black cell phone. She scrolls through a few numbers as she heads towards the exit of the doctor's practice, and puts the phone to her ear.

Justin Rose - Hello, Justin Rose speaking...

Lauri Verne - Justin, it's Lauri.

Justin Rose - Oh hey Lauri, what can I do for you?

Lauri Verne - My match this week... make it easy

Silence on the other end of the line as Justin remains quiet. The sound of him flicking through papers echoes down the phone before his voice returns.

Justin Rose - Sydney Laroux

Lauri Verne - Justin, I know she's easy in one sense, but I was thinking as in 'wrestling' easy...

A chuckle from Justin as Lauri leaves the building and heads out into the car park. She walks across the dull red-brick forecourt of the doctor's practice and then over the asphalt of the car park before she finally sets her eyes on a black car with a waiting driver in it. Across the side of it are the letters 'Aaron Blaize' painted on the side, and she smiles, realising Aaron has sent his driver for her.

Justin Rose - Word in the back says she wants to get her claws into you after last week.

Lauri Verne - Last week? What when Jay messed her up and I was jumped by that bitch of a champion?

Justin Rose - Hey, the world works in funny ways. It's booked anyhow, you can take Syd. Onto more important matters... how did the doctor's go?

This time it's Lauri laughing as she pulls on the handle on the back door and slides in. The driver makes a quick check in his mirror that it is indeed Lauri in the car before he pulls off, heading out of the car park.

Lauri Verne - Waste of time. You might want to fire this one, he's damn tight with his medicine cabinet.

Justin Rose - Noted. All right then, I won't keep you, you've got Ms. Laroux to prepare for.

Lauri Verne - … yay.

The Detroit Diva sneers as she hangs up the call and returns the phone to the pocket of her jeans. She relaxes back into the leather seats of the taxi as it heads back to her Barrie apartment, and Ms Verne starts to set her mind to Monday's match - a battle with SCCW's famous Deviant.

Lauri Verne's high-heeled boots announce her arrival to the staff of Simcoe County Championship Wrestling before her body ever does. However once they clap eyes on her, the staff begin to move aside - they know how dangerous this girl can be, and how well-placed her connections are. She smirks to herself, knowing what's going through the minds of those around her and quickly flashes one a look.

Lauri Verne - If you play your cards right, you can still have a job at the end of the week...

It was an empty threat, but it got the job done. Lauri was a mistress of the threat, and generally a mistress of carrying them out; but the point behind it was that Lauri knew exactly how to play those around her. She'd played Scarlett Willis to the maximum, maybe even going too far - the punch before their match had taken everyone by surprise, but Lauri wasn't about to forget it. As she turns a corner she finds herself looking at Anita Naylor, SCCW's resident interviewer.

Lauri Verne - Anita...

Anita Naylor - Lauri...

Their relationship was frosty to say the least - on her debut Lauri had taken out Anita's interviewee and raised her fist to the woman. A threat she continued to hint at carrying out whenever the pair met. This interview is no exception.

Lauri Verne - So, are we going to do a good job today, or do I have to beat you into asking the right questions?

Anita Naylor - That won't be necessary.

Lauri Verne - We got a new interviewer! Oh praise be!

Anita Naylor - Huh?

Lauri sniggers at the air-headedness of the interviewer before shaking her head. Anita looks over to the cameraman as Lauri quickly fixes her hair and smiles for the camera.

Anita Naylor - Hello, I'm Anita Naylor alongside the Detroit Diva, Lauri Verne. Now, Lauri, last week we saw a ferocious fight between yourself and Heavyweight Champion, Scarlett Willis. Have you got any words for the champ?

Lauri Verne - The soon to be former champ? Yes, I do Anita. You see, last week Scarlett got lucky. I had that mirror ready to smash her damn face in with it, and believe me, the way she'd end up? She'd have a tough old time of playing 'little princess' whilst looking like 'wicked witch'. Everything, and I mean everything about Scarlett Willis is wrong. The fact she holds the top title is diabolical. I've already promised myself, Dynasty, and the SCCW fans that I will rid that championship of the vile plague that holds it, I will return it to its former glory from that pink monstrosity it is now, and I will give a degree of prestige back to the championship. Clearly having an all-out fight with Scarlett didn't work, and clearly she's not going to go away that easily... so maybe I'll have to take a more... how do you put it? Legal route.

Anita Naylor - Well, many are saying that in fact the fans don't want to see Scarlett lose the title. In fact, they like her as champion. How do you respond to these criticisms?

The Detroit Diva curls her lip up in disgust for the criticisms of her argument, and she shakes her head.

Lauri Verne - Those criticisms are nothing but the incoherent ramblings of people who don't know any better. Those fans think they know what's good, but in truth, they know nothing. My father strived for years to help craft the modern business, hell, he's still working for it as General Manager for the Experts... and yet people like Scarlett Willis are still allowed to exist. People like Scarlett Willis are still given the rights to have titles and praise from the fans... Anita, people like Scarlett Willis should be god-damned eradicated from wrestling. They're ruining companies, destroying the business and slowly killing everything my family's ever worked hard for...

Anita Naylor - And by 'people like Scarlett Willis', are you including your opponent this week, Sydney Laroux?

Lauri Verne - Sydney's an interesting one. The so-called 'Deviant' who toes the line more than a fucking fullback... she wants to go after Jerzey, but stops herself as she'd deviate from the mould of the pretty little girl who the fans go wild for. She wants to claim her stake to the Heavyweight title, you can TASTE her hunger for the title, but she doesn't want to deviate in case she's not little miss popular anymore. Deviant? My ass she is. Sydney Laroux's too scared to deviate from anything she knows, Anita. Thing is, apart from the brief moments we locked up last week, Syd knows nothing about me. So how will Mrs. Scheduled-and-Ordered do when she gets thrown into the deep unknown?

She pauses, however before Anita can answer the question or ask one of her own, Lauri continues.

Lauri Verne - The answer is that she she will do fine. She'll do absolutely fine, maybe even well... for Sydney Laroux. But well for Sydney Laroux, is terrible for Lauri Verne - and because Lauri Verne never does terribly that can mean only one result. Even a walking tampon like you can work out what that one will be, Anita. Nobody has managed to beat me in singles competition yet, and that run will not be coming to an end against Sydney Laroux. Trust me on that one...

Anita Naylor - Well, I think you've set your stall out a fair bit Lauri...

Lauri Verne - Miss Verne to you. And yes, I have. If Sydney Laroux isn't realising just what she's getting herself into tonight, then she's even stupider than I thought. Syd, I'll see you out there, but on behalf of Jay Jerzey, on behalf of Dynasty and on behalf of my quest for the Heavyweight Championship... I will stampede right through you, sweetie.

Blowing a cruel kiss into the camera, Lauri spins on her heeled boots and exits the shot, leaving Anita Naylor to shrug.

Anita Naylor - Lauri Verne takes on Sydney Laroux, this Monday, live!
